Kachelofen Thermal Mass Oven 2007 February Switzerland.
A Hancock Permaculture PDC project by Salomon Zwimpfer from Switzerland.

Many thanks to Lois, a Hancock Permaculture PDC student from New York City.

Kachelofens/Mass ovens/stoves use about 25 pounds of wood per day to heat and though they heat slowly, they retain heat for long periods of time thereby reducing fuel costs. They can also be used to cogenerate hot water, bake bread, cook food as well as heating the house. They are popular in parts of northern Europe but less known in the United States.
